AHQ committee visits Delta communities over proposed establishment of 83 Division

A committee from the Army Headquarters has visited the headquarters of 63 Brigade in Asaba, Delta State, as part of efforts to facilitate the establishment of the proposed 83 Division of the Nigerian Army.
Zagazola Makama gathered from military sources that the committee visited the brigade on Sept. 7, 2026, and was received by the Commander, 63 Brigade and Sector 1, Joint Task Force South-South, Operation Delta Safe (OPDS), Brig.-Gen. I.B. Buhari.
The commander subsequently briefed the committee on the security situation and operational area of responsibility of the brigade.
The team later proceeded to Oshimili North Local Government Area, where it paid a courtesy visit to the Onu of Ebu at his palace. The visit was aimed at informing the traditional ruler about developments concerning the proposed establishment of the division and discussing suitable locations for the deployment of its units.
At about 1:39 p.m. the same day, the committee also visited the Obi of Akwukwu-Igbo.
During the assessment, two proposed sites and four proposed office spaces were inspected for possible use by the new formation.
The visit was conducted without any incident.
