Anambra police detonate high-impact IEDs, destroy bomb-making facility in ongoing clearance operation

The Anambra State Police Command on May 24, 2025, reported the successful discovery and controlled detonation of high-impact improvised explosive devices (IEDs) during ongoing clearance operations against IPOB/ESN militia camps in Isseke Community, Ihiala Local Government Area.

 

Sources told Zagazola Makama that the devices, planted by the militants, had rendered the camps impenetrable to security forces for the past two years.

 

The IEDs, described as having mass destructive capacity, were detonated safely on-site without any casualties.

 

Additionally, a bomb-making facility used by the militants was uncovered and destroyed during the operation.

 

The operation, conducted under the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, is ongoing.
