Army, Police eliminate terrorists, recover arms in Kebbi

The Nigerian Army troops and the Police operatives have eliminated several terrorists during a clearance operation at Gumki Forest in Kangiwa, Kebbi State.
The operation was conducted in the early hours of Monday as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks operating in the area.
A statement by the Kebbi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, said the operatives recovered one PKT rifle with 174 rounds of live ammunition and one AK-47 rifle with 14 rounds of ammunition.
Other items recovered include military camouflage uniforms, a pair of boots, two mobile phones, charms and four motorcycles.
The police said the cleared area remained calm after the operation, while joint security forces continued clearance activities aimed at flushing out terrorists and other criminal elements from the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Umar Hadejia, commended the operatives for their gallantry and commitment to duty.
Hadejia reaffirmed the command’s commitment to coordinated and intelligence-led operations against banditry, terrorism and other forms of criminality.
He also urged residents to provide security agencies with timely and credible information that could assist ongoing operations.
