Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA, working with police patrol teams, have foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued four victims along Funtua–Gusau Road in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Zagazola learnt that the incident occurred on Monday when armed men barricaded the highway near Tudun Malamai village and attempted to abduct occupants of a Toyota Corolla car with registration number FSK 94 ML, travelling from Zaria to Faskari.
The troops who swiftly mobilized to the scene engaged the armed men in a gun battle, tactically overpowered them, and forced them to abandon their mission and flee into the nearby bush.
The four rescued victims were identified as Abubakar Hamisu, 36, of Faskari; Ashiru Saidu, 35, of Faskari; Kabir Sulaiman, 30, of Faskari town; and Bishir Ibrahim, 34, of Kagana village.
The victims were rescued unharmed and taken to safety, while aggressive patrols and monitoring were ongoing in the area to track down the fleeing assailants.
