Ashaka-Lafarge donates rice to Maiduguri flood victims
Lafarge Africa has donated 600 bags of rice to support persons affected by the Maiduguri flood disaster.
The Managing Director of the company, Alhaji Ibrahim Aminu announced the donation during a sympathy visit to Gov. Babagana Zulum, on Friday in Maiduguri.
He said the gesture was part of the Ccorporate Social Responsibility, and a demonstration of solidarity with the flood victims.
“We are here to identify with the victims and support the efforts of the Borno state government in alleviating the suffering of the people. Our Chief Executive Officer, Mr Lolu Alade-Akinyemi, and the entire Ashaka-Lafarge team remain committed to supporting communities in need,” he said.
Responding, Zulum commended the gesture, adding that it would go a long way in addressing the immediate needs of the affected persons.
“It is not the amount of the donation but the spirit behind the gesture that really matter to us. On behalf of the government and the good people of Borno state, I express our heartfelt appreciation for this donation,” he said.
The governor assured that the rice would be distributed to the victims by the flood distribution committee.
