In a coordinated terror, armed bandits launched simultaneous attacks on villages in the Kudan and Makarfi local government areas of Kaduna State on Thursday, abducting at least three individuals, including a politician, and rustling an unspecified number of cattle.
It was gathered that the first attack targeted Taban Sani village in the Kudan local government area.
According to sources, the assailants stormed the community under the cover of darkness.
During the raid, the bandits succeeded in kidnapping two villagers and made away with several cattle. Concurrently, in the neighbouring Makarfi local government, the bandits struck Gazara village.
Their target in this attack appeared to be specific, as they abducted a well-known local politician, Zaharadeen Magaji. In both incidents, witnesses reported that the bandits fired sporadically into the air to stifle any potential resistance.
As of press time, the Kaduna State government or authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the attacks.
However, community leaders have appealed to both the state and federal governments to intensify security patrols in vulnerable rural communities to prevent further occurrences.
