A boundary dispute between Biakpan and Etono II communities in Biase Local Government Area of Cross River State has led to violence, with one person shot and five others abducted.
The trouble began earlier in the day when two women from the rival communities engaged in a fight at a farm around 11:56 a.m.
After the altercation, both women returned to their respective communities and reported the incident to their families. This escalated into a larger confrontation, which saw an unidentified man shot in the right leg by members of the Etono II community.
In retaliation, members of the Biakpan community reportedly mobilized and abducted five men from Etono II. The injured victim was taken to a local clinic for treatment by Dr. Enun Bassy Enun, the Paramount Chief of Biakpan.
Authorities have deployed detectives and tactical units to the area to restore order and ensure peace.
No lives were lost during the clash, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators and rescue the abducted individuals.
