Farmer-herder clash leaves one dead, two injured in Niger

A farmer-herder clash has claimed the life of a herder and left two persons injured in Agaie Local Government Area of Niger State.

 

Zagazola Makama  gathered that the incident occurred at about 2:00 p.m. on Saturday when one Hassan Auta, a herder from Fulani Camp, Makwagi village, allegedly trespassed into the farm of Hadiza Usman of Koroka village with his cattle.

 

Eyewitnesses said when Usman asked the herder to remove his cattle from her farm, he refused and allegedly attacked her with a machete, inflicting a deep cut on her left thigh.

 

Her son, Bashiru Mohammed, who rushed to the scene after hearing her cry for help, was also attacked and sustained a deep cut on his left hand.

 

Mohammed was said to have retaliated by striking the herder with a machete on the head, leading to his death from excessive bleeding.

 

Security personnel later evacuated the corpse and took the injured victims to the General Hospital, Agaie for treatment.
