FCT Police Officer in Custody Over Fatal Stabbing in Nyanya

A police officer attached to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command has been arrested for allegedly stabbing a man to death during a dispute in Nyanya.

 

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the  officer, ASP Sunday Alabi, was responding to a reported burglary case on Thursday at about 9:15 p.m. when the incident occurred. 

 

According to the sources, Alabi attempted to arrest a suspect, but a crowd gathered at the scene, disputing the complaint.

 

In the ensuing commotion, Alabi allegedly stabbed 35-year-old Clement Itom in the chest and fled to the station. 

 

The victim was rushed to Nyanya General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead. A bloodstained jackknife was recovered from the scene as evidence.

 

Alabi is currently in police custody while the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) has taken over the case. 

 

The sources said that Police assured the public of a thorough investigation.
