Gas explosion kills three, injures five in Ibadan

At least three persons were killed and five others sustained injuries following a gas explosion at Bioku Alaadun Street, Amuloko, Ibadan, police sources confirmed.

 

According to sources, the explosion occurred at about 8:45 p.m. on Thursday when a Mercedes Axor gas truck, registration number Lagos LSR 268 YC, was dispensing gas into a retailer’s container. The blast instantly killed Kehinde Olalani, Adio Taofiq, and another person whose identity is yet to be confirmed.

 

Five others sustained varying degrees of injuries, while the retail shop was completely destroyed and several nearby buildings damaged. 

 

A team of operatives led by Supol Akanran promptly cordoned off the area, allowing the fire service to extinguish the flames.
