GOC Commends Troops, Urges Sustained Pressure on Terrorists in Borno

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division of the Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 1, Operation Hadin Kai, Brig.-Gen. SS Diwa, has commended troops deployed in the North-East for their resilience and commitment in the ongoing counter-insurgency operations.

Diwa gave the commendation on Tuesday during an operational visit to frontline troops in Marte and Dikwa Local Government Areas of Borno State.

The GOC, accompanied by members of his entourage, was received by the Commander of 24 Task Force Brigade before proceeding to the locations of 50 Task Force Battalion and 134 Special Forces Battalion in New Marte.

During the visit, the Commanding Officer of 50 Task Force Battalion briefed the GOC on ongoing operations, security developments and the operational activities within the area.

The visit later took the GOC and his team to Dikwa, where they were received and briefed by the Brigade Commander on the security situation and operational progress within the brigade’s area of responsibility.

Addressing officers and soldiers at the various locations, Diwa praised the troops for their courage, sacrifice and steadfastness in the fight against terrorism and insurgency in the North-East.

He urged them to maintain the current operational tempo and sustain pressure on terrorist elements to consolidate the gains already recorded in the theatre.

The GOC also reassured the troops of the military leadership’s commitment to their welfare and operational effectiveness.
