Gunmen abduct farmer in Benue, family escapes attack

A middle-aged man, Ortese Tarlumun Joseph, has been abducted by gunmen in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.

 

Zagazola Makama gathered that the incident occurred on Friday, June 27, around 6:00 p.m. near Tomanyiin Main Village, Nzorov district, while the victim was returning from the farm with his wife and son.

 

According to the sources the family was approaching the spot where their car was parked when two armed men suddenly emerged from the bush and ordered them to lie down.

 

Out of fear, the family attempted to flee, prompting the assailants to fire two gunshots. Mrs. Ortese said she later heard her husband calling for help but was unable to locate him.

 

It was later discovered that the gunmen had abducted her husband. The family’s Toyota Corolla, was recovered at the scene.

 

The sources said security personnel conducted a joint operation in the area shortly after the incident, but neither the kidnappers nor the victim were found during the initial search.
