Gunmen Kill Man in Niger, Police Launch Manhunt

The Niger State Police Command has launched an investigation into the killing of a man, Gigi Danbaka, by unidentified gunmen in Rafi Local Government Area.

 

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that three incident occurred on March 12 at about 2:00 p.m. when Danbaka and his family went to the bush along the Gabi-Alawa Road in Ringa District to pick mangoes.

 

On their way home, they were accosted by armed men who took Danbaka hostage but released his family with a chilling message instructing them to return later and retrieve his corpse.

 

Upon receiving the report at about 8:20 p.m., security operatives and local vigilantes launched a search and rescue operation. However, on March 13 at about 11:00 a.m., his lifeless body was discovered at the scene.
