Troops Repel ISWAP Attack On Gamborun Ngala

The troops of 3 Battalion, 22 Task Force Brigade on Wednesday morning thwarted an attempt by Boko Haram to attack Gamboru Ngala in Borno State.

Soldiers overwhelmed the insurgents with superior firepower.

Military sources told Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in Lake Chad that the terrorists advanced towards the town from various locations in an attempt to penetrate the most populous northern town. 

The sources said: ”troops of 3 Battalion on operation Hadin Kai had successfully repelled ISWAP’ attack at Gamboru Ngala, Borno State early this morning.

He said “some of the  terrorist were neutralised during the encounter while other members of the group fled following a superior fire power from the troops.

Recalled that the ISWAP in its latest broadcast had promised to carry out attacks in order to scuttled the forth coming elections, while on its part, the Military high Command in Borno under the leadership of Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Ali, reiterated its readiness to provide the required security during and after the Feb. 25 presidential and National Assembly elections.
