Troops of Sector 7 Operation Safe Haven have foiled an attempted abduction of a cleric in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State, forcing the suspected kidnappers to flee and abandoning their operation.

Security sources told Zagazola that the incident occurred at about 1:45 a.m. on March 14, when troops deployed at Ungwan Gora responded to a distress call reporting an attempted kidnapping at Ningishe Village in the area.

The sources said the suspected criminals had targeted Rev. Nuhu Anche, a cleric with the Evangelical Reformed Church of Christ (ERCC), at his residence.

According to the sources, the troops swiftly mobilised to the location after receiving the alert, and their prompt arrival disrupted the operation, compelling the attackers to abandon the mission and escape from the scene.

“The swift response of the troops forced the kidnappers to flee without taking the victim,” a security source said.

The cleric was successfully rescued by the troops and later evacuated to the General Hospital in Gwantu for medical attention following the incident.

Military authorities said efforts were ongoing to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects, while troops have intensified patrols and surveillance in surrounding communities to prevent further criminal activities.
