The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Plateau North chapter, has appealed to the Plateau State Government and security agencies to intensify efforts to recover 160 cows allegedly rustled in Dogo Nahawa and currently being hidden within Fan District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.
The cows, belonging to Alhaji Abdullahi Ado Foron and Abdullahi Ardo Umaru, were reportedly rustled on Sept. 30, with credible information indicating that the animals had been moved to Ntaduk area of Fan District.
In a statement, the Zonal Chairman of MACBAN, Plateau North, Mr Abubakar Gambo, said reliable information had established the current location of the cows at Ntaduk, Fan District.
Gambo alleged that the rustling was carried out by suspected Berom youth militia, adding that an effort by security personnel to recover the animals on Sunday was unsuccessful.
He appealed to the Plateau State Government, the military and other security agencies to intensify their search and recovery operation to prevent the situation from escalating.
According to him, recovering the animals would not only protect the property of the affected owners but also help prevent the incident from becoming another trigger for retaliatory attacks and further violence in the state.
He urged all parties to exercise restraint and allow security agencies to recover the animals through lawful means.
