The air component of Operation Fansa Yamma has carried out successful airstrikes on bandits’ hideouts in Unguwar Goga Hillforest, Ruwan Godiya Ward, Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama on Friday that the operation, conducted between the early hours of March 13 and noon, led to the destruction of two major camps belonging to notorious bandit leaders, Gero (Alhaji) and Alhaji Riga.
The source disclosed that at least 19 bandits were neutralized during the air raid, with indications that several others were eliminated around the rocky hills but are yet to be accounted for.
Further intelligence gathered from the operation revealed that Riga and Gero were key figures harboring other criminal elements responsible for multiple attacks along the Funtua-Gusau highway, particularly between Yankara and Sheme villages.
Security forces are said to be maintaining aerial and ground surveillance to track fleeing bandits and prevent regrouping.
The military has intensified operations against bandits in the North West, targeting their camps and supply networks as part of efforts to restore peace in the region.
