Several Islamic State of the West African Province (ISWAP)Fighters are feared to have been killed in Thursday's airstrike by the Nigerian military Air Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai in the North East of Borno state.

The insurgents were eliminated on June 8, when the Air Force jet targeted a convoy of the ISWAP and bombed two hilux trucks conveying unconfirmed numbers of fighters between Aulam and Kafa in the Timbuktu general area.

Intelligence sources told a counter-insurgency expert, in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, that all occupants of the gun trucks were killed in the intelligence-led airstrikes.

"The jets fired four bombs which hit the two vehicles while other fighters on motorcycles scampered in a different direction.
