OPEP troops foil attack on Wumat community in Plateau

Troops of Sector 5, Operation Hakorin Damisa (OPEP), have foiled an attempted attack by unidentified criminals in Wumat Village, Tarangol District of Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident occurred at about 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 20, 2026, following reports of sporadic gunshots around the community.
The troops, deployed at Plateau State University (PLASU), swiftly responded to the distress call and moved towards the affected area.
According to military sources, the troops’ quick intervention forced the unidentified attackers, who were allegedly attempting to attack the village, to withdraw in disarray into the surrounding bush.
No casualty was recorded during the incident.
The troops have continued to dominate the general area with fighting patrols to prevent the attackers from regrouping and forestall further attempts to attack the community.
