Oyo Police arrest herder for killing colleague over N4,000 debt in Igboho

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a herder identified as Sheu Aliu for allegedly killing his colleague, Jombo Isa, following a dispute over a debt of N4,000 at Zakari forest reserve in Igboho, Oorelope Local Government Area.

 

Sources said that the incident occurred on Oct. 12, 2025, at about 4:00 p.m., after an altercation between the two herders turned violent. Aliu reportedly attacked Isa with a cutlass, inflicting fatal injuries.

 

The Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Association in Oorelope Local Government alerted the police, leading to the swift response of operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer of Igboho.

 

The suspect was later arrested and, upon interrogation, confessed to committing the crime. The cutlass used in the attack was recovered as an exhibit.

 

Police said the body of the deceased was evacuated and deposited at the General Hospital, Igboho, for preservation and autopsy.

 

Investigation into the incident is ongoing.
