Plateau sets up committee to harmonise issues from presidential engagement

The Plateau State Government has constituted a high-powered sub-committee to harmonise issues raised during the recent interaction between Governor Caleb Mutfwang and President Bola Tinubu.

 

The committee was inaugurated on Tuesday at the Twin Theatre, New Government House, Rayfield, Jos, according to a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Rt. Hon. Joyce Ramnap.

 

The government said the initiative was aimed at developing a coordinated framework for future engagements with the Presidency and relevant federal agencies in the interest of the state.

 

Governor Mutfwang charged the committee to streamline key concerns discussed during the engagement and produce a comprehensive agenda for sustained dialogue with the Federal Government.

 

He said the move underscored his administration’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with federal authorities in addressing security, peacebuilding, and development challenges in Plateau State.

 

The committee is chaired by former governor Joshua Chibi Dariye, while other members include former Deputy Governor Pauline Tallen, Sheikh Ghazali Ismail Adam, Bishop Jwan Zumbes, Hon. Sani Muazu, Rev. Gideon Para Mallam, Hon. Sani Suleiman Maigoro, Barr. Panmak Lere, Mrs. Esther Gonda, and Dr. Sumaya Hamza.

 

Dr. Julie Sanda and Dr. Joseph Lenmang will serve as the committee’s secretariat.

 

According to the terms of reference, the committee is expected to identify priority areas requiring federal intervention, recommend strategies for peace, unity, security, and social cohesion, and ensure broad stakeholder consultations.

 

It is also mandated to liaise with relevant stakeholders and submit its report within seven days of inauguration.

 

The government expressed confidence in the capacity and experience of the committee members, urging them to discharge their assignment diligently in the overall interest of Plateau State.

 

The statement added that the initiative reflects the administration’s determination to sustain constructive engagement with the Federal Government toward addressing pressing security and developmental concerns in the state.
