Plateau troops conduct show of force across major towns amid rising tensions

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace in collaboration of other security agencies conducted a coordinated show of force across major towns in Plateau State in response to recent security concerns and uprisings in parts of the state.
Security sources said the exercise, which involved armoured vehicles, patrol teams and rapid response units, was carried out across key flashpoints within Jos and surrounding communities.
The operation was designed to demonstrate security presence, reassure residents, and deter further breakdown of law and order following recent violent incidents in some local government areas.
Troops were seen moving through major roads and strategic locations while maintaining heightened alertness and operational readiness.
Authorities said the exercise also formed part of ongoing efforts to stabilise the security situation and prevent further escalation of tensions in affected communities.
The security situation in the state was described as calm but tense, with continuous monitoring and patrols ongoing to maintain public safety.
