The Osun State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers following a foiled abduction in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area of the state.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the suspects, Makinde Idris of Lalupon, Ibadan, and Kehinde Wasiu of Mushin, Lagos, were apprehended after their vehicle was involved in a minor accident.
According to the sources the suspects had abducted a woman, Rofiat Alao, from the Oke Awo area of Ikire around 9:00 a.m. on Monday. The victim unknowingly entered their Space Wagon vehicle, registered as MUS 495 JR, at the Ikire Expressway, before the kidnappers tied and blindfolded her inside the vehicle.
However, their plan was thwarted when the vehicle got involved in a minor crash. Police operatives, assisted by bystanders, managed to apprehend two of the suspects, while one is still at large.
The sources said efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspect, while the arrested suspects have been taken into custody for further investigation.
