Police foil bandit attack, recover AK-49 rifle in Katsina

The troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA in Katsina has foiled a bandit attack and attempted kidnapping in Faskari Local Government Area, recovering a fabricated AK-49 rifle and a motorcycle in the process.
Sources reliably informed Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred on May 2 at about 1:00 p.m. when unknown gunmen suspected to be armed bandits attacked one Abu Iro, a 23-year-old male, stabbed him with a machete on the forehead, and attempted to kidnap him after seizing his motorcycle.
The troops comprising of the Army, Police, Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC), responded promptly and engaged the assailants.
“During the engagement, one locally fabricated AK-49 rifle with an empty magazine and one red Boxer motorcycle were recovered from the scene.
Traces of blood stains were also observed, suggesting injury to some of the fleeing suspects. One Mustafa Ibrahim, an operative of the KSCWC, sustained a gunshot wound on his right leg during the encounter and was rushed to the Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC) in Faskari, where he is currently responding to treatment.
