Police launch search for missing corps member in Bayelsa creek community

The Bayelsa State Police Command has commenced a search operation following the disappearance of a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member serving in Nembe Local Government Area of the state.

Police sources told Zagazola Makama that the case was reported at about 8:40 p.m. on July 25 by Aribisola Bisi Isaac, a corps member serving in Nembe, accompanied by Adeola Marvelous.

According to the report, the Local Government Inspector informed them that the missing corps member, identified as Okebaram Stanley Chimaroke, 27, who was posted to serve in Nembe Creek, was last seen at about 8:00 p.m. on July 24.

The sources said repeated attempts to reach him through his mobile phone numbers were unsuccessful, prompting concerns over his whereabouts.

Following the report, police operatives were mobilised to the creek community, located about 45 minutes by boat from the Nembe Divisional Headquarters, to commence search and investigation.

The police said efforts are ongoing to locate the missing corps member and establish the circumstances surrounding his disappearance. Investigations are continuing.
