The Nasarawa State Police Command says it has launched an investigation into the death of a woman and her two children in Obi Local Government Area.

Zagazola Makama gathered that the incident was reported on Sunday by one Yusuf Mohammed Ogah of Mararaba Obi, who discovered the bodies at about 10:57 a.m.

“On arrival, detectives found Mrs. Martha Yusuf, 50; her daughter, Miss Hannatu Yusuf, and her son, Meshach Yusuf, lying motionless inside their residence. Remnants of food allegedly eaten by the deceased were recovered as exhibits,” sources said.

Sources said that the victims were confirmed dead at the General Hospital, Obi, and their remains deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy.

The sources  added that the deceased had been separated from her ex-husband, one Yusuf Iliya, for about three years. He allegedly visited the house a day earlier to plead for reconciliation.

“The suspect has been arrested. He denied poisoning their food but admitted visiting the victims the previous day,” police said, adding that the case remains under investigation.
