Police Probe Fatal Shooting During NDLEA Raid in Osun

The Police in Osun State have commenced an investigation into the death of a man allegedly shot during a raid conducted by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at Odo-Ori Market in Iwo Local Government Area of the state.
Sources disclosed that the incident occurred on June 9 during an operation by NDLEA officers targeting suspected drug dealers in the market.
According to the sources, information received by the Iwo Divisional Police Headquarters indicated that a man identified as Gaji Ibrahim, said to be from Ibadan in Oyo State, sustained gunshot injuries during the operation.
“The NDLEA operatives were reportedly carrying out an enforcement operation at Odo-Ori Market when the shooting incident occurred.
“The victim was subsequently confirmed dead,” the source said.
Following the report, a police team was deployed to the scene to assess the situation and commence preliminary investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police authorities said efforts were ongoing to establish the facts of the case, including the sequence of events that led to the fatal shooting.
The authorities added that relevant witnesses and other persons connected to the incident would be interviewed as part of the investigation.
They assured members of the public that a thorough and professional inquiry would be conducted to determine the circumstances of the death.
The command urged residents to remain calm and allow security agencies to carry out their respective responsibilities while investigations continue.
