Police recover firearms, arrest five suspects in Zaria

The Police in Kaduna State have arrested five suspects and recovered firearms and ammunition in a coordinated operation in Zaria.
Zagazola understand that on Oct. 15 at about 4:30 a.m., the Command received a call from the Commander of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) in Madachi Gwargwaji, who reported suspicious movements of persons in the area.
The DPO and his patrol team immediately mobilized to the scene, but the suspects took to their heels upon sighting the police vehicle, abandoning their luggage.
The area was tactically cordoned off, leading to the arrest of one Sadiq Idris, 21, of Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State, who was found with an English Beretta pistol and five rounds of 9mm live ammunition.
Further operation led to the arrest of one Usman Aminu, 21, of Panshekara, Kano, at Kwangila Flyover, Zaria, with nine rounds of 9mm live ammunition.
Additional arrests were made, including Abdulaziz Usman, of Tudun Wada, Kaduna; Hajara Abdulkarim, and Fatima Alhassan, both of Kusfa, Zaria, in connection with the crime.
According to sources, efforts have been intensified to apprehend other fleeing suspects, while investigation is ongoing.
