The Niger State Police Command says it has recovered a stolen Lexus RX 350 SUV and arrested one suspect linked to a car-snatching syndicate operating across the Abuja–Kaduna corridor.
Sources said that the incident followed credible intelligence from Force Headquarters, Abuja, regarding the snatching of a white Lexus RX 350 with registration number AUG 950 NQ, belonging to one Edward of Lafia, Nasarawa State.
According to the sources, the vehicle was reportedly stolen by a gang of four suspected car snatchers before police tactical teams were alerted.
The Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Suleja division immediately mobilised operatives, who tracked the vehicle along the Kaduna–Abuja expressway.
The SUV was eventually recovered around the Empire Energy Gas Depot area, while one of the suspects, identified as Malik Habeeb of Behind Primary School, Ushafa in the Federal Capital Territory, was arrested at the scene.
The command said the suspect and the recovered vehicle are currently in police custody.
It added that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining members of the syndicate who fled the scene.
