The Zamfara State Police Command has confirmed a failed bandit attack on a Police Mobile Force (PMF) operational base in Gora Namaye district of Maradun Local Government Area.
Zagazola Makama gathered the incident occurred at about 9:10 a.m. on July 9, when armed bandits in large numbers launched an assault on PMF operatives deployed under Operation Restore Peace.
The sources said that the officers on ground swiftly returned fire, forcing the attackers to retreat into nearby bushes with possible gunshot wounds.
However, during the exchange, one officer, Inspector Ibrahim Mohammed, sustained a gunshot injury to his right thigh.
Following the report, the DPO mobilised additional personnel to the area, but the assailants had already fled the scene before their arrival.
The injured officer was evacuated for medical attention, while efforts are ongoing to trace and apprehend the fleeing bandits.
