A notorious bandit leader who called himself Shekau, because of his notoriety, operating around the Narewo River bank in Kachia Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State, has been ambushed and killed by a rival faction led by another bandit leader, Shumo.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that Shumo, an indigene of Ragadada, Buruku in Birnin Gwari LGA, launched the attack in retaliation for a previous assault by Shekau, who had reportedly seized his weapons and killed several of his fighters.

It was gathered that the ambush paid off as Shekau was killed alongside some of his lieutenants during the ambush on March 5, 2025.

The neutralized bandits were buried by individuals identified as Yellow Million, Baba Kusa, and an imam from Kabode village, Kachia LGA.

Though, bandits activities in Kaduna has drastically stepped down due to the non Kinetic efforts of the Kaduna State government and security agencies but ongoing rivalries among bandit factions operating in the region has also intensified with multiple casualties reported in recent times.
