Robbers Transfer ₦5m From Victim’s Opay Account, Steal ₦6m Cash and Jeep in Ogun

Armed hoodlums have reportedly robbed a resident of Abeokuta, Ogun State, of ₦11 million in cash and electronic funds before fleeing with his vehicle and mobile phones.

The incident occurred at about 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2026, in Soyoye, Abeokuta.

According to a security report obtained by Zagazola Makama, the victim, identified as Atobatele Akeem of White House Street, Soyoye, reported the incident to the police at about 7:10 a.m.

He said about five hoodlums armed with cutlasses invaded his premises and transferred the sum of ₦5 million from his Opay account into different accounts.

The suspects also allegedly collected ₦6 million in cash from the victim and made away with their mobile phones.

The hoodlums further reportedly removed the victim’s unregistered red Highlander Jeep from where it was parked and escaped with the vehicle.

Following the report, police detectives immediately commenced investigation and visited the scene to gather evidence and establish the circumstances surrounding the robbery.

Efforts are ongoing to track down the perpetrators, recover the stolen funds and vehicle, and bring the suspects to justice.

The case remains under investigation.
