Security operatives arrest suspected gunrunner in Abia

Troops of 144 Battalion (Rear), in a joint operation with operatives of 14 Military Intelligence Regiment (MIR), Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), and the Department of State Services (DSS), have apprehended a suspected gunrunner in Abia State.
Security sources said the suspect was arrested at about 11:30 a.m. on May 4 at Ohambele community in Ukwa East Local Government Area.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly transported weapons to individuals through a third party from Bayelsa State.
Efforts are ongoing to recover the weapons and apprehend other members of the network, as security agencies intensify operations to dismantle arms trafficking in the region.
