Terrorist Attack Targets Bamako Gendarmerie School and Key Locations

Early this morning, the Malian capital was rocked by gunfire and explosions, as a terrorist attack targeted multiple sensitive sites, including the Faladiè Gendarmerie School near Bamako’s airport. Residents reported hearing heavy gunfire and blasts in the area at dawn, sparking widespread alarm.

In a statement from the Malian Armed Forces’ Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIRPA), authorities confirmed the attack on the gendarmerie school, urging citizens to avoid the Faladiè sector as security forces respond to the situation. The Minister of Security also acknowledged the gravity of the attack, stating that "sensitive points of the capital have been targeted by terrorist attacks."

Reports from security sources, including the well-known journalist Serge Daniel, indicate that a drone platform in the area was among the strategic sites targeted by the assailants, though details on casualties or damage remain unclear.

The situation is ongoing, and security forces are working to secure the area. More information will follow as updates become available.
