Troops of the 232 Battalion (Tactical) under Operation HADIN KAI have arrested eight suspected drug peddlers during a raid operation in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation was carried out at about 12:30 p.m. on July 6 as part of efforts to dominate the area of responsibility and deny criminal elements freedom of action.
The sources said the troops conducted targeted raids behind the Emir’s Palace and Hong Market in Hong metropolis, where the eight suspects were apprehended.
Items recovered during the operation included substances suspected to be cannabis sativa, tramadol tablets, Exol tablets, the illicit substance commonly known as “ice”, and several mobile phones.
According to the sources, the suspects are currently in the custody of the 232 Battalion (Tactical), where they are undergoing profiling before being handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Military sources described the operation as part of sustained efforts to curb drug trafficking and other criminal activities that could fuel insecurity within the North-East theatre.
They added that while the general security situation across the theatre remains relatively calm, it is still unpredictable, with troops maintaining a high level of vigilance and operational readiness.
