Troops of Operation AWATSE have arrested a suspected military impostor for allegedly impersonating a Major in the Nigerian Army and defrauding members of the public in parts of Ogun State.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the suspect was apprehended at about 5:04 p.m. on Oct. 19 at Ogere in Ikenne Local Government Area of the state.

The sources said the suspect allegedly posed as a Major in the Nigerian Army and used the false identity to defraud unsuspecting members of the public within Ogere and Sagamu areas.

Items recovered from the suspect included two mobile phones, four SIM cards, three ATM cards, several papers containing phone numbers and other complementary cards.

Following his arrest, the suspect was handed over to the Nigeria Police at Owo lowo Market in Sagamu for further investigation and necessary legal action.

The arrest underscores ongoing efforts by security agencies to clamp down on individuals allegedly impersonating military personnel to perpetrate fraud and other criminal activities.

Security sources urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious individuals claiming to be military personnel, particularly those demanding money or making fraudulent promises.
