Troops Arrest Notorious Suspected Cultist Over Alleged Attempted Murder in Cross River

Troops under Operation UDO KA have arrested a suspected cultist and armed gang member allegedly involved in violent crimes in Obanliku Local Government Area of Cross River State.

 

Security sources said the suspect was apprehended at about 12:10 p.m. on May 20 by troops of 130 Battalion (Rear) deployed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Amana.

 

The arrest reportedly followed credible intelligence on the activities of the suspect, who was said to have been terrorising residents of Baga 2 community in Utanga area.

 

The suspect was allegedly intercepted after being linked to the shooting of his mother and an attempted attack on his brother in the community.

 

Preliminary investigation further indicated that the suspect was a member of a cult group and a notorious gang operating within the area.

 

Items recovered from him included one Dane gun, two mobile phones, and a bag containing personal belongings.

 

Security sources said the suspect is currently in custody undergoing further investigation and profiling.

 

They added that troops under Operation UDO KA have sustained operations aimed at dismantling cult-related violence, armed crime, and other security threats across border communities in Cross River State.
