Troops arrest six suspected kidnappers, recover Dane gun in Adamawa

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested six suspected members of a notorious kidnapping syndicate operating across parts of Song Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The suspects were arrested during a raid on a suspected kidnappers’ hideout around Soktu Hill in Song LGA on Sept. 13.
The operation followed credible human intelligence on the activities of the gang. Troops of Sector 4, in collaboration with local hunters, mobilised and stormed the suspected hideout at about 8:30 a.m.
Three suspected members of the kidnapping syndicate were arrested during the operation, while one Dane gun was recovered.
Military sources said subsequent interrogation and follow-on covert operations led to the arrest of three additional members of the syndicate, bringing the total number of suspects arrested to six.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the group allegedly operates around Skotu, Dumne and Maigero communities in Song Local Government Area.
The suspects reportedly confessed to involvement in the kidnapping of more than seven victims, with the syndicate allegedly collecting ransom payments from their relatives.
They further disclosed that some victims who failed to comply with the gang’s ransom demands were killed, according to information obtained during interrogation.
The suspects and recovered weapon are currently in the custody of 226 Battalion for further investigation and necessary action.
The operation represents a significant blow to a kidnapping network that has reportedly terrorised communities across the Song axis.
Security forces are expected to sustain follow-up operations to identify other members of the syndicate, recover more weapons and rescue any victims who may still be in captivity.
The general security situation across the theatre remains calm but unpredictable, while troops maintain satisfactory morale and fighting efficiency.
