Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a suspected blind drug peddler during a raid on a suspected drug distribution point at the Government Secondary School (GSS) Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp in Gwoza, Borno State.

Security sources said the operation was conducted at about 8:00 p.m. on June 15 by troops of the 26 Task Force Brigade as part of ongoing efforts to curb drug abuse and criminal activities within displaced persons’ camps and host communities.

The suspect, identified as Sani Abdullahi, 36, was arrested during the raid.

Items recovered from him included 32 wraps of cannabis, 21 wraps of Erinmore, four tablets of tramadol, a wrap containing white tablets suspected to be illicit substances, a Tecno Android phone, two talismans, a wristwatch and a Bluetooth device.

Military sources said the suspect is currently in the custody of the 26 Task Force Brigade and is undergoing further interrogation.

The operation forms part of sustained efforts by security forces to combat drug trafficking and other criminal activities that could undermine security and stability in the North-East.

According to military authorities, the general security situation across the theatre remains calm but unpredictable, while troops continue to maintain high morale and operational effectiveness in ongoing operations.
