Troops Arrest Suspected Drug Peddler, Recover Illicit Substances in Borno

Troops of the Operation HADIN KAI have arrested a suspected drug peddler and recovered suspected illicit substances during a checkpoint operation in Damasak, Mobbar Local Government Area of Borno State.

 

Military sources said the suspect was apprehended at about 3:30 p.m. on June 6 by troops of the 145 Battalion (Main) deployed at a security checkpoint in the town.

 

According to the sources, a search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of three packs of tramadol tablets, 28 tablets of another suspected controlled substance, and 54 wraps of suspected cannabis.

 

Other items recovered from the suspect included a knife, four rings, a mobile phone, a wristwatch and N800 in cash.

 

The sources said the suspect was arrested as part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to curb the circulation of illicit drugs and other substances that could contribute to criminality and insecurity in the region.

 

The suspect remains in military custody pending further investigation and possible handover to the appropriate authorities for prosecution.

 

Security agencies have continued to intensify surveillance and enforcement measures aimed at disrupting drug trafficking networks and other criminal activities across the North-East.
