Troops arrest suspected gunrunner, recover rifle and ammunition in Plateau

Troops of Sector 5, Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), have arrested a suspected gunrunner and recovered an AK-47 rifle with ammunition during a snap checkpoint operation in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the arrest was made on July 3 at about 5:45 p.m. at Mangar in Daffo District, following credible intelligence on the movement of arms in the area.
The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Zubairu Ahmed, was intercepted by the troops and found in possession of one AK-47 rifle, a loaded magazine containing three rounds of 7.62mm (special) ammunition, a motorcycle, two Tecno mobile phones, clothing material, and the sum of N400.
The suspect and recovered items are currently in custody for further interrogation, while efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend other members of the arms trafficking syndicate.
