Troops Arrest Three Suspected Gunrunners, Recover Arms in Taraba Raid

Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), in collaboration with Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) operatives, have arrested three suspected gunrunners during a raid operation in Donga Local Government Area of Taraba State.
Security sources said the operation was carried out at about 2:30 a.m. on May 7 at Nyita community, following intelligence obtained from an earlier arrest of a suspected gunrunner at Maraban Donga on May 5.
The sources disclosed that the latest operation was a follow-up raid targeted at accomplices linked to the suspect earlier apprehended by troops of Sector 3 OPWS.
According to the sources, troops stormed the hideout of the suspects in Nyita and successfully arrested three persons believed to be involved in illegal arms trafficking and related criminal activities within the area.
Items recovered during the operation included one locally fabricated pistol, one pistol magazine, one round of 9.9mm ammunition, one pump-action rifle, seven cartridges, two Dane guns, one AK-47 rifle magazine, three rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, five rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, and three mobile phones.
