Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have arrested three suspected herders over alleged destruction of farmlands in Marit Village, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Security sources said the incident occurred at about 7:31 a.m. on Oct. 19, when troops of Sector 4 deployed at Dorowa responded to reports of farmland destruction in the community.

The sources said the troops apprehended three suspects and confiscated cattle allegedly linked to the incident.
One motorcycle was also recovered during the operation.

According to the sources, some armed herders reportedly engaged the troops upon their arrival but escaped into surrounding bushes.

The three suspects and the recovered items are currently in military custody for further investigation and necessary action.
The operation comes amid persistent tensions over farmland destruction and farmer-herder disputes in parts of Plateau State.
