Troops arrest two suspects over alleged pipeline vandalism in Rivers

Troops of the Joint Task Force, South-South, Operation Delta Safe (OPDS), have arrested two suspects for alleged pipeline vandalism at the Ebocha Oil Centre in Rivers State.
Security sources said the incident occurred at about 10:00 a.m. on April 2, when troops of Headquarters 6 Division, Criminal Investigation Bureau VIII, intercepted a vehicle conveying suspected vandalised metal materials from a bridge in Egbema West.
The sources disclosed that the driver of the vehicle, who hails from Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State, and the owner of the items, from Umu Nneochi Local Government Area of Abia State, were arrested during the operation.
According to the sources, a total of 99 pieces of metal suspected to have been vandalised from critical infrastructure were recovered from the vehicle.
The suspects and recovered items have since been handed over to the Department of State Services (DSS) for further investigation and possible prosecution.
