Troops of 135 Special Forces Battalion, in collaboration with Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) members and local hunters, have conducted a fighting patrol and safely disposed of an improvised explosive device (IED) in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State.

Security sources said the operation, carried out at about 6:35 a.m. on April 14, followed intelligence reports on the movement of suspected ISWAP terrorists behind the Kurnari general area.

According to the sources, the troops, alongside hunters from Buratai and Kurnari communities, conducted a clearance patrol to deny the terrorists freedom of movement.

During the operation, the troops discovered an IED planted along a major supply route, which was safely disposed of without incident.

“No contact was made with the terrorists during the patrol,” the sources said.

They added that troops have continued to dominate the area to prevent further threats and ensure the safety of residents and road users.
