Troops of the Nigerian Army under Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD have discovered and safely detonated two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) along the Baturen Daji–Machan–Gyada–Masaka road in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the explosives were discovered at about 7:00 a.m. on Nov. 5, 2026, by troops of 128 Battalion deployed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Babana.

The IEDs were located along the road corridor and the general Dekara area, prompting the deployment of an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team.

The EOD team subsequently carried out a controlled detonation of the two devices in situ, preventing possible harm to commuters, residents and security personnel.

No casualty was reported during the operation.
