Troops Foil Armed Robbery Attack, Rescue Victim in Plateau

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have foiled an armed robbery attack and rescued a victim in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Security sources disclosed that the incident occurred at about 8:05 p.m. on May 29 at the Kisayip area of Jebbu Bassa community.
According to the sources, the troops responded swiftly to reports of gunshots suspected to have been fired by armed robbers operating in the area.

On arrival at the scene, the troops rescued the victim, identified as Private Jacob Peter, who was reportedly returning home from a local market when he was attacked by the criminals.

The victim informed security personnel that the assailants, armed with a pistol, forcefully snatched his mobile phone before fleeing upon sighting the approaching troops.

The prompt intervention of the troops prevented further harm to the victim and disrupted the activities of the suspected robbers.

Security sources said a manhunt had been launched for the fleeing suspects, while patrols had been intensified across the general area to deny criminal elements freedom of action and prevent further incidents.

Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements and criminal activities to security agencies.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
