Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), in collaboration with personnel of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), have foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued two victims along the Akwanga–Gwantu Road in Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

Security sources said the incident occurred at about 11:30 p.m. on June 29, following a distress call reporting kidnapping activities along the highway.

The sources said troops of Sector 2, Operation Whirl Stroke, deployed at Anguwan Makama, swiftly mobilised to the scene alongside police personnel.

On sighting the advancing security team, the suspected kidnappers fled into the surrounding bush, abandoning two of their captives.

The rescued victims were safely escorted out of the area by the security operatives and reunited with their families.

Security sources said efforts were ongoing to track down and apprehend the fleeing kidnappers, while patrols have been intensified along the Akwanga–Gwantu Road to prevent further criminal activities.
