Troops foil suspected militia attack in Plateau, rescue injured civilian

Troops of Sector 6, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), have foiled a suspected militia attack in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Security sources said the incident occurred at about 7:00 p.m. on April 26 when troops deployed at Bukuru responded to reports of movement of suspected armed elements toward Gero high ground, allegedly en route to Sabon Gida community.
The sources disclosed that troops immediately launched a pursuit operation and engaged the suspects with controlled fire, forcing them to withdraw and abandon their mission.
According to the sources, during follow-up exploitation of the general area, troops discovered one civilian who sustained gunshot wounds.
The injured victim was evacuated for medical attention.
The sources also noted that five motorcycles were reportedly carted away by the fleeing assailants during the attack.
Troops have since intensified patrols and surveillance in the area to prevent further incidents and restore calm.
