Troops Foil Terrorists’ Attempted Infiltration of Army Base in Zamfara

Troops of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with the Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and local vigilantes, have foiled an attempted terrorist infiltration of a military base in Zamfara State.
Security sources said the incident occurred at about 3:00 p.m. on Oct. 27 at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Bukuyum in Bukuyum Local Government Area of the state.
The sources said the troops, working alongside the other security agencies and local vigilantes, engaged the suspected terrorists during the attempted infiltration.
The engagement reportedly forced the attackers to flee in disarray.
However, one soldier sustained injuries during the encounter and was evacuated to the 1 Brigade Medical Centre for medical attention.
The troops have continued to maintain security in the area to prevent further attempts by terrorist elements to infiltrate military positions.
